Off-Field Accident Injures Sergio Martínez

Sergio Martínez, starting pitcher for the Carolina Mudcats, suffered a concussion while showing off on his motorcycle. Team doctors said the off-field injury could sideline Martínez for about 10 months.
Looking at his season stats, Martínez has won 16 and lost 11, collecting 213 strikeouts and 80 walks in 209.2 innings with a 3.82 ERA.

Lynchburg Advances to Round 2

Mark one up for the Lynchburg Hillcats.
In the crucial final game, they put away the Frederick Keys 8-2 at Ed Smith Stadium to win the Round 1, 3-2 and advance to the Round 2.
Although his team came up short, Frederick's Tony Castro was named the series MVP, with many of the league media feeling the series would have been over much sooner if not for his contributions.
"Castro did a lot to keep Frederick in it, no doubt about that," said Hillcats manager Nick Markakis.
The Lynchburg Hillcats will play against the Winston-Salem Dash in the next round. Winston-Salem won their series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
