At an age when many of his peers are still toiling in the minor leagues, Curt Sorensen was on the biggest stage of all.

The 22-year-old rookie left fielder was terrific at New Winston-Salem Ballpark with a stirring hitting performance. Sorensen slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5 in a fireworks-filled, 14-1 Lynchburg Hillcats win over the Winston-Salem Dash. The win gives the Hillcats a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Round 2.

Sorensen had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth to put Lynchburg in front, 4-1. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run off Winston-Salem pitcher Mike Brown.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Lynchburg manager Nick Markakis.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at New Winston-Salem Ballpark in Winston-Salem.
