Joe Turner Bashes Three over the Wall

Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Joe Turner can celebrate.
The El Paso Chihuahuas center fielder powered three into the stands at Aces Ballpark against the Reno Aces.
"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Turner told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one."
In all, he was 3-for-4 as the Chihuahuas toppled Reno by a score of 8-5, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 3 times.
"He is blessed with a natural home run swing," El Paso manager Andy Hayes said. "He gets the ball up in the air."
Joe Turner hit a solo-shot off Chester Pimentel in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Dave Sanford in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Pat Gross in the 10th.
For the season, Turner has produced 8 hits in 31 at-bats for a .258 average with 4 home runs and gotten on base at a .324 clip.

Polk Hurls No-Hitter

New Orleans is abuzz in the wake of a masterful no-hitter by Jarred Polk.
The 28-year-old hurler was dominating against the Iowa Cubs, leading the Zephyrs to a 1-0 win at Principal Park.
"I could tell early on that it was going to be a long day for us," Iowa manager Gera Alvarez said afterward. "He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."
Polk had 8 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks en route to the no-hitter.
"Yeah, this was a special day for me," Polk said. "I had my good stuff and good movement. Good location, too. Even when I made a mistake, I got away with it today."

Rainiers, Gonzalez Stonewall Fresno, 4-0

Brian Gonzalez had an impressive outing at Chukchansi Park, hurling the Tacoma Rainiers to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Fresno Grizzlies.
"He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," Fresno skipper Kevin Cash said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders."
On the day, the left-handed Gonzalez yielded 3 hits and tallied 10 strikeouts with 1 walk.
