Hagler Belts Bunch of Base Hits
Saturday, May 9th , 2026
Even as a kid, Jim Hagler said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At PNC Field, Hagler showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 26-year-old reliever had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Scranton WB RailRiders, helping his team knock off the Rochester Red Wings by a score of 16-4.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Jim Hagler hit a two-run home run off Luis Pagán in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Ron Silva in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
Hagler has taken the mound for 5 relief appearances this season, nailing down 3 saves while notching a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. The Scranton WB reliever has limited opposing batters to a .048 batting average.
