Clearwater Bats Silenced by Vallance Friday, September 4th , 2026 The Clearwater Threshers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays. The Threshers were overpowered by Dunedin starter Joel Vallance, who hurled his club to victory, 9-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Hector Santiago said. Over 9 innings, Vallance blanked Clearwater on 7 hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Vallance said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." Vallance has taken the mound for 3 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 13-7 record with a 2.97 ERA.
