The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Bright House Field.

The Clearwater Threshers defeated the Tampa Yankees, 6-4. Center Fielder Tony Pérez deserved a large share of the credit. Pérez was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs for the Threshers. Reliever Jim Bailey picked up the win. His record improves to 3-5. António Martínez, who is tied for 7th in the FSL in holds with 8, took the loss. Daniel Brunt was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 28 of 30 save opportunities.

Clearwater took a 5-4 lead on Juan Castro's 29th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Castro hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Tampa pitcher António Martínez visibly frustrated.

"To get where we want to as a team, we all have to do things out of our comfort zone," Castro told the Clearwater Citizen.

Clearwater is now 59-77, while Tampa is 72-64.
