Pérez Shuts Out New Britain, 10-0
Tuesday, May 19th , 2026
Portland Sea Dogs starter José Pérez really did a number on the New Britain Rock Cats, shutting them out, 10-0, on 1 hit in a complete game victory. He issued 3 walks and had 15 strikeouts.
"We didn't have good at-bats," said New Britain manager Gary Kendall. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Pérez."
This season, Pérez has rung up 4 wins and 2 losses in 8 games. He has an ERA of 4.10 and has fanned 63 batters in 52.2 innings.

Barrage of Hits Gets Pérez EL Award
Monday, May 18th , 2026
New Britain fans have something to crow about today as New Britain center fielder Luis Pérez nabbed the Eastern League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.
"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Pérez.
He posted a .517 average (15-for-29) this past week with no home runs, 8 RBIs, and 6 runs scored.
This year, Pérez has hit at a .275 clip with 36 hits, 1 home run, 18 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
