Tuesday, April 21st , 2026
Toledo first baseman Kurt Newton was ejected in the game between the Mud Hens and Red Sox for letting loose a profanity-laced tirade against the home plate umpire after some calls didn't go the way he wanted. Newton was just as incensed after the game.
"These guys are a joke. How can people expect to take this game seriously when you have games like this?" Newton said in the locker room after the game.
Now Newton must face the consequences of this actions. League officials released this brief statement to the media: "We are regretful that Newton has taken this to the level that it has reached. The league will not tolerate this type of conduct. Due to his actions during and after the game, the league is suspending him for 4 games."
Looking at his present stats, Newton has compiled a .233 batting average in 11 games with a .298 on-base percentage, while hitting 3 home runs and driving in 11 runs.
