Syracuse Blanks Pawtucket, Jackson Winner
Thursday, July 3rd , 2025
The Pawtucket Red Sox manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Syracuse Chiefs. The Red Sox were overpowered by Syracuse starter Clarence Jackson, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Wes Timmons said.
Over 9 innings, Jackson blanked Pawtucket on 3 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Jackson said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Jackson has a 8-7 mark in 17 starts with a 2.34 ERA. He has given up 90 hits in 115.1 innings, struck out 109 and issued 45 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .212 batting average against him.
