Pawtucket Red Sox pitcher Juan Aguilar was in top form, leading his team past the Syracuse Chiefs, 4-1. Sam Taylor finished the game for Pawtucket and earned his 6th save. The Red Sox go to 14-21 with the win.

The Chiefs had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Red Sox going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old shortstop Phil Hopkins came to the plate. Hopkins hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 slider from Syracuse hurler Hugh Lemley. It was Hopkins's 6th double of the year.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Aguilar.
