Syracuse and Lehigh Valley duked it out and the Chiefs came out victorious.

The Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 7-4, at Coca-Cola Park. Syracuse third baseman Luis Carpio had a superb performance. He was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Thom Stevens got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 5.

It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Mike McDermott, the 24-year old left fielder . McDermott contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Syracuse up, 2-0.

McDermott told a Syracuse Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

The Chiefs have an impressive 20-12 record.
