Chiefs Defeat Red Sox, 2-1
|
The Chiefs grabbed a win, 2-1, at NBT Bank Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Pawtucket pitcher Jim Jones. Jones went 8.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Syracuse reliever Javier Navas was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Mac Ward took the loss. The win elevated the Chiefs to 19-10.
The Chiefs got a clutch hit from second baseman Ken Barnes. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Chiefs.
"What a great game, great atmosphere," Barnes said.
