IronPigs Need Extra Frames to Get Past Red Sox
The home squad pulled out a thrilling walk-off win.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs did just enough to secure a victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox, 9-8, in 10 innings at Coca-Cola Park. Nobody did more than second baseman Steve Stanley. Ron Boyer picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Jon Bascombe suffered the loss.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Stanley hit a fastball from Jon Bascombe for a run-scoring double. The IronPigs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"No one can call baseball boring," said IronPigs manager Mel Pritchard. "Not after a game like that."

Lehigh Valley has now won 7 games in a row.
