Bats Deal Mud Hens 3-1 Setback
|
Louisville starter Doug Merkel pitched well against the Toledo Mud Hens at Louisville Slugger Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-1. Merkel, now 4-9, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Getting the save was Cody Martin, his 2nd.
Harold Castro had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Louisville. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Louisville in front, 3-1.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Merkel said.
At 52-81, the Bats are currently last in the West Division.
