In a tight contest at Coca-Cola Park, the Rochester Red Wings edged the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by the score of 7-6. Rochester left fielder Tulio Garcia, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Steve Becker, who is tied for 7th in the IL in holds with 7, was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-9. The losing pitcher was Ron Boyer. Rochester is now 56-76, Lehigh Valley 72-60.

It could have been a different outcome for Rochester, had it not been for Greg Boyson, the former first round draft pick . Boyson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Rochester up, 7-6.

"They had a good approach," Lehigh Valley skipper Mel Pritchard said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."
