Chiefs Deal Bulls 5-3 Defeat
|
The Durham Bulls could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kevin Rafuse into a win. Instead, the Syracuse Chiefs prevailed, 5-3. Rafuse came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters. Thom Stevens recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 14 for 17. Syracuse is now 57-70, while Durham is 50-77.
It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Dave Drew, the 27-year old second baseman . Drew contributed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Syracuse up, 5-0.
Syracuse manager Dave Anderson said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
