Arrows Come Back Late, Nip Firebirds
The Indianapolis Arrows had to overcome a good performance from Gwinnett pitcher Joe Byrd to claim a 2-1 win at Coolray Field. Byrd went 9 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ernesto Mendoza earned the win. Joe Byrd took the loss for Gwinnett. Clarence Wall earned his 1st save in 1 tries.

Indianapolis used a timely hit from Jorge Tavárez to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Arrows ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I was a little disappointed," said Gwinnett manager Jason Bourgeois. "We could've and should've scored more runs."

The Arrows, at 60-64, inhabit third place in the West Division.
