Both teams had their chances, but the Pawtucket Red Sox eventually prevailed.

The Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Buffalo Bisons by a score of 4-3. Pawtucket first baseman Anastasio Mendoza deserved the lion's share of the credit. Mendoza was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Red Sox. Sam McWilliams got the win, improving to 10-9. Doug Watkins drove in one run for Pawtucket. The 24-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off José Valenzuela. It was his 25th RBI of the season.

Watkins called the win "a team effort."
