The Toledo Mud Hens picked up a win at Fifth Third Field, topping the Columbus Clippers, 8-0. On the mound for Toledo was left-hander Jonathan Wells. He played a principal role in the triumph. Toledo raised its record to 57-53 with the win.

Alfredo Martínez had a big solo home run for the Mud Hens in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Toledo leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a splitter from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Orlando Galindo and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Mud Hens on top, 2-0.

"We didn't put our best foot forward tonight," said losing manager Carlos Garcia.
