Columbus Upended by Toledo, 6-2
Toledo turned a good effort from starter Shawn Major into a win over the Columbus Clippers at Fifth Third Field. The Mud Hens won the game, 6-2. Major yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-1. Toledo is now 55-26, Columbus 49-32.

Chris Welch had a big 3-run home run for the Mud Hens in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Toledo leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a splitter from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ron Reinert and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Mud Hens on top, 5-0.

"I thought we played a nice game," Major told the Toledo Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
