Lehigh Valley IronPigs starter Luis Gil pitched his team past the Rochester Red Wings, 2-1. Miguel Angel Martínez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 25 save opportunities. Today's win puts Lehigh Valley at 49-29, while Rochester falls to 30-48.

Brit McDonald came through with a big-time hit for Lehigh Valley. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Bottom line," said Rochester skipper Chad Epperson, "we didn't play well enough to win."
