Knights Need Extra Innings to Top Red Sox, 7-6
The Charlotte Knights needed 15 innings to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 7-6, at BB&T Stadium. The win was due in part to right fielder Tony Smith, who went 4-7 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Reliever Trey Ball picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. José Pérez took the loss. Charlotte is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 6th in 17 games.

Alfredo Martínez delivered a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 15th to win it for the Knights. For the game, Martínez went 2-5 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI.

"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Martínez. "Maybe this win will help."
