Rochester right fielder Joe Collins was a significant contributor in his team's 9-5 triumph over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. He went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Red Wings. Rochester pitcher Pete Lambert got the win. He's now 1-0. Dave Blackburn was tagged with the loss. Ed Bates saved it for Rochester.

Rochester left fielder Dan Mason contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 6th hit of the season and put the Red Wings ahead, 5-2.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Collins, "one at-bat at a time."

With the loss, Lehigh Valley drops to 2-2.
