Pierce Johnson was locked in. The right-hander led the Buffalo Bisons to a 7-1 win against the Rochester Red Wings at Frontier Field. Johnson got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. With the loss, Rochester falls to 2-2.

Buffalo used a well-timed hit by Didi Gregorius to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Bisons ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Buffalo manager Drew Saylor. "That's what Pierce is right now."
