Arrows Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Indianapolis Arrows extended their winning streak.
The Indianapolis Arrows got a magnificent effort from pitcher Ernesto Mendoza, who kept Louisville hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Arrows win at Louisville Slugger Stadium. Mendoza, now 2-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
Jorge Tavárez delivered a big hit for Indianapolis. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Arrows ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Indianapolis manager Walt Wilhelms.
With the win, the Arrows have a record of 33-30.
