Dawson Clubs 2 Home Runs in 12-4 Pawtucket Win
|
The Pawtucket Red Sox cut down the Gwinnett Firebirds by the score of 12-4, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Bo Dawson. Dawson went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 4 and driving in 2 for the Red Sox. Jim Jones, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Firebirds to 2 runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. After today's action, Pawtucket sits at 25-27, while Gwinnett falls to 31-21.
Pawtucket won the game in part because of Ed Dennis. The designated hitter ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 2-1. For the game, Dennis had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Dawson. "You've got to get results."
