Mauro Salazar had a strong outing for the Columbus Clippers against the Louisville Bats at Huntington Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-0 win. The winning pitcher was Salazar, now 3-1. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7. With the win, Columbus pushed its record to 28-11.

Cisco Vargas had a big 2-run double for the Clippers in the bottom of the second inning. With Columbus leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Chad Johnson, who is tied for 6th in the IL in quality starts with 6, and swatted a double to right. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Clippers ahead, 3-0.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Columbus manager Carlos Garcia. "It's usually not just one thing."
