RiverDogs One Win from Round 2 Title

Their bats were silent and Charleston had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the RiverDogs struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 22-year-old starter José Cruz. The right-hander quieted the Delmarva Shorebirds at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park to help Charleston take the 3-2 decision and seize a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.
Cruz was in the zone all game. He frustrated Delmarva hitters while giving the RiverDogs 8 innings of quality work. Cruz threw 106 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 7 punchouts.
"José didn't beat around the bush," said Charleston field general Brian Rupp. "He was all business."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston.
