RiverDogs Clip Shorebirds, 2-1, in R2 Contest
Stan Lester pitched a gem to help the Charleston RiverDogs escape with a tight, 2-1 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds in a low-scoring Round 2 contest. The right-handed Lester threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball in the win, just enough for the RiverDogs on a day when their offense dried up. Charleston now leads the best-of-7 series 2-1.

José Sánchez came through for Charleston when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike cutter to right-center field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.

"Things broke our way today and that's great," RiverDogs manager Brian Rupp said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston.
