The Greenville Drive earned a close win over the Hagerstown Suns, thanks in part to Virgil Vásquez. The Greenville right-hander played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Vásquez, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 13, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Augusto García earned his 9th save in 10 tries.

The Drive got a big at-bat from right fielder Ty Martin. For the game, Martin was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Greenville a 2-0 lead.

"I was just trying to be aggressive and fill up the zone," said Vásquez.

Greenville, with the win, climbs to 41-82.
