The losses keep piling up for the Asheville Tourists.
The Delmarva Shorebirds beat the Asheville Tourists, 10-1, at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Delmarva right fielder Chuck Ward, who leads the SAL in triples with 5, collected 2 singles and 1 double with 4 runs batted in. Etelson Peltier notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
With Delmarva leading 6-0 in the bottom of the third, Ward came up to bat against Asheville pitcher Josh Cooper. Ward hit a fastball to left for a bases-clearing double. His 11th double of the season put the Shorebirds on top, 9-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Ward said.
Delmarva is now 54-20, 11 games up in the Northern Division.
