The Hagerstown Suns beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 10-7, at Municipal Stadium. The win was due in part to catcher Darrell Lee, who was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Mike Richards got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. The loss lowers the Greensboro record to 13-6.

Had Randy Williamson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Williamson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Suns.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Lee.
