Best Pitcher Trophy Won by Tigers Ladnier Friday, November 14th , 2025 The Detroit Tigers have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Stu Ladnier, this year's American League Cy Young Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Ladnier compiled a 21-6 record in 31 starts, tallied 145 strikeouts in 201.1 innings and recorded a 2.77 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .224 batting average against him. He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Vince McSweeney of the Toronto Blue Jays finished second in voting, while Jose C. Medina of the Cleveland Guardians finished third.
