Marlins End McCarthy Streak Thursday, September 4th , 2025 The 21-game hitting streak of Baltimore (DSL) Orioles 1 shortstop Jeff McCarthy came to an end at Academia de Prospecto Complex. The Miami (DSL) Marlins held him hitless in 1 at-bat and also sent the Orioles 1 down to defeat, 7-4. Later, McCarthy acknowledged to BNN reporters that the hit streak meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. It was what we're all supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try to score runs. It was a cool deal, but it's over now. Let's try to start a new one." McCarthy is hitting .424 this year with 12 home runs, 48 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 81 hits in 191 at-bats, 15 walks and a .466 on-base percentage. McCarthy has played in 45 games. |
