Big Day with Bat: Norwood 5-for-7
Friday, August 15th , 2025
After a 5-hit effort to lead New York N (DSL)'s 16-13 victory over the Cincinnati (DSL) Reds, second baseman Bob Norwood told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Dominican Rookie League-level is really something special."
The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at New York Mets Complex with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Reds.
"His swing is getting there," said Mets 1 skipper Prince Fielder, who spoke glowingly of Norwood after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Bob did that to perfection."
Bob Norwood singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 9th, hit an RBI single in the 10th, grounded out in the 11th and flied out in the 14th.
So far this season, Norwood is batting .488 with 4 home runs, 40 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 60 hits in 123 at-bats, 31 walks and a .596 OBP. Norwood has played in 32 games.
