McCarthy Belts Bunch of Base Hits Thursday, August 14th , 2025 The Baltimore (DSL) Orioles 1 stopped the Texas 2 (DSL) Rangers 2 by a score of 21-1 at Pittsburgh Pirates Complex, with the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Jeff McCarthy. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," McCarthy said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." McCarthy did just that in his 7 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Rangers 2. "Not much that I can say," offered Texas 2 (DSL) manager Kieran Mattison. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Jeff McCarthy hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
