Sunday, August 17th , 2025
The Lowell Spinners were almost helpless in their 11-0 loss to the Connecticut Tigers and hurler Juan Martínez. Martínez kept the Spinners confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Martínez," Lowell manager Tony Castillo said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 20-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Martínez said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
To date this season, Martínez has a record of 6 wins and 1 loss and a 2.63 ERA. He has appeared in 10 games and struck out 56 in 51.1 innings.
