Smith Strokes 5 Hits Friday, August 8th , 2025 Staten Island second baseman Dan Smith had a big day at Richmond County Bank Ballpark against the Tri-City ValleyCats. The 24-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led to the 5-0 Yankees triumph over Tri-City. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Smith said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Dan Smith singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
