Day Smacks 6 Hits for Crawdads Saturday, July 25th , 2026 Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Steve Day of the Hickory Crawdads had one of those moments when he went 6-for-7 at the plate in his team's 8-5 win over the Hagerstown Suns at Municipal Stadium. "I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 22-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years." Steve Day struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and singled in the 12th. Day is hitting .284 so far this season with 29 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He has 98 hits including 3 home runs, 36 walks and .354 OBP. View Boxscore |
