Big Day with Bat: Burgess 5-for-5 Friday, May 15th , 2026 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Jerry Burgess. Burgess went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Rome pitchers. When the dust settled on the diamond at State Mutual Stadium, he had a 5-for-5 line and a day he will long remember. And the Hickory Crawdads had a win, 12-4, over the Hammers. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview. Jerry Burgess hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
