Holmes Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Clearwater
Thursday, August 7th , 2025
It was the best of both worlds for the Clearwater Threshers at Bright House Field, as they defeated the Brevard County Manatees, 3-2, and also snapped Brad Holmes's 26-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old Brevard County first baseman failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Holmes, we just wanted to win the game," said Threshers skipper Hector Santiago. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Holmes frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
Currently Holmes has 7 home runs and a .314 batting average.
