Saturday, October 4th , 2025
Steffen Lord said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 24 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Wilmington Blue Rocks rising star has won the Carolina League Reliever of the Year for 2025.

He captured the award on the strength of his 2.22 ERA over 77 innings. He also had 15 saves in 29 relief appearances, 68 strikeouts and only 28 walks.

He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. Mike Brown of the Winston-Salem Dash finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Nelson Castillo of the Frederick Keys finished third.
