League KO's Storm-Mavericks Players with 3-Game Suspensions Monday, September 7th , 2026 There were a few hotheads at the Lake Elsinore-High Desert game at Stater Bros. Stadium yesterday, but the cooler heads prevailed and kept fisticuffs to a minimum. It all started when Steve Burke of the Storm and Joe Heisey of the Mavericks apparently exchanged some verbal unpleasantries and rushed at one another and began wrestling on the ground. Both benches emptied, but didn't get involved other than a little shoving. Order was quickly restored, the two instigators were ejected by the umpires and the game continued. The league office took quick action and today announced that both players would be suspended 3 games for inappropriate on-field behavior. This year, Burke has socked 76 hits in 282 at-bats for a .270 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .326 pace and his totals also include 28 RBIs and 24 runs scored. On the season, Heisey has delivered 3 saves in 29 relief appearances. He has 74 strikeouts in 61 innings with a 3.69 ERA and a 1-1 mark. |
