Bakersfield Shuts Out Modesto Behind Bell, 8-0 Thursday, August 3rd , 2023 In an outstanding mound performance, Bakersfield Blaze starter Dan Bell fired a complete-game shutout against the Modesto Nuts at John Thurman Field today. Bell was the key to the Blaze's 8-0 win. The 22-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 5 hits and 2 walks he allowed. "5 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout." To date this season Bell has compiled a 4-4 record with a 3.76 ERA in 8 starts.
