Richmond Tops Erie Wednesday, September 16th , 2026 A celebratory mood filled the air as the Richmond Flying Squirrels closed out the season with a 5-2 victory over the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park to capture the Round 1, 3-2. Giving the SeaWolves credit for a hard-fought series, Flying Squirrels players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Eastern League champions. "We felt like this was our year all season long," said first baseman Ron Thomason, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did." It was the 3rd in franchise history. During the Northern Division regular season Richmond put up a 79-61 record and finished first. "They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Erie manager Brad Ausmus.
