García Blanks Akron, 11-0
Saturday, September 6th , 2025
The Akron RubberDucks were almost helpless in their 11-0 loss to the Richmond Flying Squirrels and hurler Dave García. García kept the RubberDucks confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to García," Akron manager Keith Johnson said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 25-year-old right-hander had 3 walks and 8 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," García said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
García has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 13-13 record with a 3.48 ERA. The Richmond reliever has limited opposing batters to a .228 batting average.
