López Pitches Gem as Thunder Beat Richmond, 14-0 Friday, July 18th , 2025 The Richmond Flying Squirrels manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Trenton Thunder. The Flying Squirrels were overpowered by Trenton starter Jorge López, who hurled his club to victory, 14-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Mike Sarbaugh said. Over 9 innings, López blanked Richmond on 5 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," López said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." This year, López has a 4-10 record with a 4.45 ERA. View Boxscore |
