Storm Chasers, Mercer Blank Memphis, 5-0 Monday, September 7th , 2026 The Memphis Redbirds were almost helpless in their 5-0 loss to the Omaha Storm Chasers and hurler Thom Mercer. Mercer kept the Redbirds confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Mercer," Memphis manager Garey Ingram said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 27-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Mercer said.
