Quad Cities Tacks 7-3 Loss on Clinton
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits picked up a win at Modern Woodmen Park, knocking off the Clinton LumberKings, 7-3. On the mound for Quad Cities was right-hander Ángelo Martínez. He played a key role in the triumph. Martínez picked up the win for Quad Cities, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-7. The save went to Jerry Stevenson, his 3rd this season.
Ezequiel Cerqueora had a big 2-run double for the River Bandits in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Quad Cities leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ken Wheeler and swatted a double to left. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the River Bandits ahead, 5-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Cerqueora said after the game.
The 4th-place River Bandits bumped their record to 62-55.
