Kane County wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Alfredo Gómez, falling to the Burlington Bees, 4-1. Gómez threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Juan Romano was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-3. The losing pitcher was Mike Wright. The first-place Bees have a record of 67-48.

Burlington used the clutch hitting of Steve Prince to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bees ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Prince said after the game.
